USC Charge for the Self Employed
No income tax or USC increases forecast by the incoming new government. Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and the Greens have issued their finalised proposal for government, which promises no income tax or USC increases in the coming year. Tax credits will remain unchanged but from 2022, tax credits and bands will be linked to earnings, should the economy see sufficient recovery.
The 3% USC charge for the self-employed is under consideration as it has been deemed unfair to those operating their own businesses.
Tax credits for home carers will be increased to support stay at home parents.
Other proposed changes include a carbon tax, sugar tax and a levy on plastics.
